Artisan jam maker drops home-made labels for 'polished' look

Food and drink branding consultancy Simmer has created a new look for the Claire's Handmade range of jams and preserves.

Cumbria-based Claire Kent and her husband locally source and produce a wide variety of products that are sold in retailers in the North-West as well as restaurants and tea rooms.

Richard Reeves, managing director of London-based Simmer, said that like other artisan brands Claire's had previously designed its own labels, but had reached a stage where they sold enough product to warrant a polished rebrand.

The labels are produced by Cheshire-based Commercial Label Products and have been designed to reinforce the "handmade" message as well as create excitement around the brand by using lively background patterns.

"There are a lot of different jams, marmalades and preserves in the range and we've used colours to show that," Reeves told Packaging News.

The Claire's Handmade range includes jams, preserves, chutney, piccalilli, ketchup and lemon curd.
